Neal Skupski’s Australian Open hopes have been dashed as the Briton suffered two doubles losses in one day.

Skupski and Wesley Koolhof were stunned by Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler in the men’s doubles quarter-final.

The top seeds were beaten 6-3 6-1 by the Australian wild cards.

Skupski then lost in the mixed doubles semi-final to American Desirae Krawczyk, losing 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (7-5) 10-6 to Indian duo Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna .

He was hoping to reach back-to-back Grand Slam finals with Dutchman Koolhof after finishing second at the 2022 US Open.

Hijikata and Kubler play their first partnership tournament.

They will face eighth seeds Marcel Granollers of Spain and Horacio Zeballos of Argentina in the last four.

Skupski and Krawczyk won the last two mixed doubles titles at Wimbledon but never reached the final at Melbourne Park.
