25th Anniversary Cranium, the latest version of Hasbro’s hit family party game, will hit retail this spring. The design work was handled by the all-star team at Funko Games. The base game will be joined by two refreshed spin-off titles – Cranium Hullabaloo and Hoopla Skull — as well as the brand new children game, Big Brain Skull.
the original Skull was first released in 1998. This new release includes “all new content” and “hundreds of all-new maps,” according to the press release. At its core, however, are the same kinds of themes and activities that made the original so fun, including this little sculpting clay pot.
Big Brain Skullon the other hand, is more in line with modern hidden object games like MicroMacro: Crime City. It even offers a single-player mode. Cranium Hullabaloo is an app-driven children’s game that emphasizes physical activity, and Hoopla Skull adds new content to the original timed version of Skull, first released in 2002.
Most people know Funko for its line of collectible vinyl figures, but it’s also home to a rock star team of tabletop designers known as the Prospero Room. It’s the same group behind a long line of award-winning titles like Disney Villainas well as particularly solid board games based on pop culture touchstones — including ET: The Extra-Terrestrial, The Goonies, jurassic park, The fast and the furiousand even the classic Jimmy Stewart movie rear window.
25th Anniversary Cranium is expected in big box and online retailers this spring, while the other three titles will begin rolling out over the summer.
