Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast have quietly released the first details of a new Dungeons & Dragons anthology. The next adventure book is called Keys to the Golden Vault, an anthology that will send players on a series of complex heists. The books will be released on February 21.
On a website intended to serve independent retailers, Wizards describes the anthology as 13 “short, self-contained” D&D adventures designed for characters level 1 through 11. The Dungeon Master can run each adventure in one go, or can connect to make for a bigger campaign. They can also take place in any location. The book will include maps to help players plan heists and tips for running non-traditional campaigns.
Adventures will join a growing number of D&D anthologies like Candlelight Mysteries and Journeys through the Radiant Citadelboth of which received rave reviews.
Wizards of the Coast released this new anthology with little fanfare. This could be due to the recent controversy sparked by a leak of a draft licensing agreement that was intended to change the terms for creating D&D content. Hasbro has since backed away from that license change, but is still on the side of angering fans. It’s also not the only high-profile stumble for Wizards owner Hasbro, which Wall Street has lately criticized for allegedly overprinting. Magic: The Gathering cards – something the Rhode Island-based games and toys company denies.
Keys to the Golden Vault is currently on pre-order on Amazon and to your friendly local game store.
