After weeks of waiting, Bungie has finally honored gamers with the trailer for the last Destiny 2 season on Tuesday morning: Seraph Season. The season starts on Tuesday and will run from December 6 to February 28, 2023 and the release of the fall of light expansion.
Season of the Seraph will see players once again teaming up with the Bray family in order to aid the Warmind, a super-powered AI that quit two years ago in Season of Arrivals. To help awaken the Warmind and transfer its conciseness into an Exo body (sounds like a bad idea, but OK), Guardians will need to go “behind enemy lines” in the new Heist Battlegrounds activity.
This activity appears to have some light stealth elements, as players will need to avoid turrets when infiltrating certain Hive facilities. However, the most interesting aspect of this activity seems to be that at least one of the scenarios takes place on Mars, in an area that was removed from the game with the Beyond Light expansion. As of this writing, it’s currently unclear if players will once again be able to roam freely on Mars, or if Braytech facilities will only be available in matchmaking missions.
Season of the Seraph also includes an exotic mission for the first time since The Witch Queen expansion. The mission is called “Seraph’s Shield” and will take players into space, similar to the Deep Stone Crypt raid. Players can return weekly for the next three weeks, and will finally unlock the Revision Zero Exotic weapon on December 20, just in time for the holidays. Once players obtain the weapon, they will be able to find and activate several different Exotic Catalysts; typically Exotics only have one Catalyst, which usually adds a new perk.
This season also sees the return of the Christmas Advent activity and the hunt for annual Moments of Triumph achievements. Players will also be able to purchase Assassin’s Creed Crusader Armor from the store. Warlocks can dress as Ezio while Hunters can dress as Kassandra. The Titans, of course, get the Eivor-inspired armor.
Finally, it’s worth noting that players will only have around 12 weeks to complete everything Season of the Seraph has to offer – and that includes unlocking all of the elusive weapon models. Assuming this season will work like previous years, all seasonal content will disappear once the fall of light expansion launch on February 28.
Season of the Seraph will also kick off with a new dungeon this Friday, but Bungie has yet to reveal details about the dungeon. This is a separate purchase and will not fold with the rest of the season.
