Everton boss Frank Lampard said he was “not looking for reassurance” with his side in 18th place in the Premier League table.
“I have never sought and would never seek reassurance,” Lampard said.
“It’s my job to focus on the work in progress, day to day, game to game. I’m not looking for reassurance.
“I am a great man working for a great club and I will continue to do so.”
The Toffees have lost four of their last five league games and travel to an in-form Manchester United side in the FA Cup third round on Friday.
Lampard, 44, says his side’s current position in the league is not his immediate concern.
“When you’re in and around this area, that’s the reality,” he added.
“But if we win the next league game, we’ll probably be in the bottom three. It’s part of the process.
“I’m very aware of what I came to do in this job. I want to succeed at this club. Any challenges that come my way, I will take them on and really enjoy them.
“I come to work to try to improve a little bit every day – myself, the team, the team and everything.
“I like working for this club, it’s a real honor for me. That’s why I say I don’t need any reassurance.”
‘It’s a hit’
Speaking at Thursday’s press conference ahead of the trip to Old Trafford, Lampard also confirmed defender Nathan Patterson faces a six-week absence after sustaining a medial ligament injury in the loss to the Seagulls.
“It’s a tough blow, a weird blow in terms of how it caused the injury,” he said.
“He’s a blow. He’s a young full-back. He came in, broke through and did well for us.
“It’s time for others to take up the torch. Six weeks is a long time, but it will come back.”
With the January transfer window open, Lampard has also said he will have money to spend on reinforcements.
“Both options are on the table in terms of loaning or buying players,” he added.
“I’m not going to sit down and talk about finances because I can’t give you specifics.
“We want to improve the team in January, but my job is to work with the players we have.”
