Gmail will soon have a feature that will write entire emails for you using AI, Google announced Wednesday at its Google I/O event.
The feature, dubbed “help me write,” is essentially an extension of the automatic replies and generative text that Google already uses in Gmail. When announcing the feature, Google CEO Sundar Pichai used the example of requesting a flight refund from an airline. The AI function extracts information from previous exchanges with the airline and creates a complete message requesting the refund. You can then modify this message as you wish and send it.

This is the sample email of what AI could generate in an email.

The idea behind this feature is to save people time on relatively nonsensical emails. Anything that can help me clear out inboxes is probably a welcome help for people all over the world.
