Spotify’s new feature lets you create a time capsule of the music you’re listening to right now, which you won’t be able to watch until 2024.
Announced Wednesday“Playlist in a Bottle” is the audio streaming service’s latest way to let users see a bunch of data about their listening habits that they can inevitably share on social media and trigger all the memes.
The in-app functionality captures exactly what you’re listening to right now in a summary sent to you in exactly one year. Spotify will prompt you for three song-inspired prompts, then lock your playlist in a bottle until 2024.
Playlist in a Bottle is available to free and premium subscribers located in the US, UK, Australia, France, Japan, Mexico, Argentina, Turkey, Brazil, Germany, Canada, in Spain, Saudi Arabia, Chile, United Arab Emirates, Colombia, Indonesia, Sweden, Egypt, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, Czech Republic, Denmark, Morocco, Philippines and Poland.
However, if you want to receive a time capsule, you must create one before January 31, as Spotify mouths after that date.
How to make your Spotify “Playlist in a Bottle”:
-
Open the Spotify Playlist in a bottle website on your smartphone or open it on your desktop and scan the QR code using your phone.
-
Select your time capsule object from a variety of choices: a lunchbox, gumball dispenser, teddy bear, jeans pocket, acorn, or the more traditional bottle.
-
Answer questions from Spotify, all song-related – these will range from ‘a song you’re going to kiss someone to this year’ to ‘a song that reminds you of your favorite person’. You can randomize it or start typing your answer as the song title, and Spotify will populate with search results. Press the + button to lock it and press “Next”.
-
After clicking “I’m done”, you can take a last look at your playlist. Spotify will “seal” the capsule and only send it to you in January 2024 via the app and by email.

Until next year, all you have to do is enjoy your Spotify Wrapped Playlists.
