YouTuber Jake Paul says he wants to make Tommy Fury pay for “wasting my time” – and still fears their fight in Saudi Arabia next month might happen.
A match between Britain’s Fury and the American has already been postponed twice.
Last week, it was announced that the rescheduled fight would take place at Riyadh on February 26.
“Part of me still definitely doubts,” admitted Paul, 26.
“It’s scary and it’s boring, and the kid isn’t necessarily reliable but the money is good, for him, so he would be so stupid.”
And referring to Fury’s relationship with social media influencer Molly-Mae Hague, Paul added: “I think he’s probably tired of Molly making all the money from the relationship.”
A scheduled fight in New York in August was canceled after Fury was denied access to the United States.
Fury, 23, too withdrew from their fight in December 2021 by injury.
Paul said American mixed martial artist Mike Perry was on standby: “He’s ready to step in, in case Tommy steps down.”
Paul and Fury faced off in the ring before Anthony Yarde’s light heavyweight loss to Artur Beterbiev in London on Saturday. Speaking after the fight, the viral content star turned fighter explained why he was desperate to fight Fury: “I want to make him pay, he’s wasted my time a lot of times. I want to take his career away from him,” did he declare.
Fury is the younger brother of world heavyweight champion Tyson and Paul said Tommy was a ‘Fury family puppet’ who ‘felt he had to live up to that’ so ‘was saying things that I don’t think he believes” on the outcome of their struggle. “He’s going to have a rude awakening,” he added.
However, he praised Fury’s credentials as a professional fighter – he will be the first professional boxer Paul has faced in his short six-fight career to date.
“I’m validated. I did everything I had to do in this sport for me personally, I proved everything to myself but it’s going to be fun to face a professional boxer, one with a big name, a ton of credibility.
“He’s been fighting since he was 10, 11 and I’ve only been doing this for three years.
“It’s another stepping stone because I want to become world champion. I want it and I will do it. I can do it and no one believes in me.
“When I said there are four fights, people laughed, they don’t want to believe it’s possible because of my background, but I believe anything is possible if you think about it and put your all into it. life and have some natural talent, which I happen to have.”
