Liverpool’s home game against Leicester City became the second Women’s Super League match to be postponed on Sunday due to weather.

Tranmere Rovers’ Prenton Park ground passed an initial inspection at 10:00 GMT but failed a second check two hours later before kick-off at 2:00 p.m.

Brighton announced Saturday their game against Everton, also at 2:00 p.m. GMT, was called off due to a frozen pitch.

Sunday’s matches are the final round of WSL fixtures scheduled for 2022.

Liverpool sit ninth in the table, three places above Leicester, who are yet to register a point in nine games, while Brighton and Everton are 11th and eighth respectively.

“Despite the efforts of a large number of staff and volunteers, the ice surrounding the pitch made it impossible to properly remove the pitch covers,” said a According to the statement from Liverpool.

Both host clubs have said matches will be rearranged in due course.
