wonderit is Spider Man 2sequel to Insomniac Games’ 2018 PlayStation-exclusive blockbuster, launching for PlayStation 5 in Fall 2023, Sony Interactive Entertainment said Thursday.
The launch window was revealed in a general preview of major games and products coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 next year. “Here’s to making next year as exciting as we continue to be marvel’s Spider Man 2 ready for release next fall,” creative director Bryan Intihar said in a brief statement to the PlayStation Blog.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was originally announced during the September 2021 PlayStation Showcase (with marvel’s Wolverine, which has no launch date or window). The game will feature Peter Parker and Miles Morales as their Spider-Man characters; Morales was the star of the 2020 spin-off, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Moraleswhose story unfolded while Parker was out of New York on a photojournalist assignment.
The ultra-villain Venom, announced at the end of Marvel’s Spidermanwill play a big role in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac revealed last year. The first game pits Spidey against virtually every other major villain from the hero’s 60 years of comics. The critical and commercial success of the game led Sony Interactive Entertainment to eventually acquire Insomniac Games after a long exclusive development partnership with PlayStation.
