American golfer Scott Stallings has received a shock after discovering that his invitation to the Masters had been sent to another person of the same name.
The 37-year-old tweeted that he had “checked the mailbox five times a day” for his invitation before receiving a direct message from fellow Scott Stallings.
The three-time PGA Tour winner posted his namesake’s message, which included: “I’m 100% sure this is NOT for me. I’m playing but wow! Far from your level.”
The message began: “Hi Scott. My name is also Scott Stallings and I am from Georgia (GA). My wife’s name is Jennifer too!!
“I received today a FedEx from the Masters inviting me to participate in the Masters Tournament from April 6 to 9, 2023.
“It’s a very nice complete package with everything needed to attend. I think we have some confusion because of our names, our wife’s names and our geographical location.”
He then attached a photo of the invite, adding, “I’m really not kidding, I promise.”
The pro Stallings is currently ranked 54th in the world and his last win on the PGA Tour was in 2014 at the Farmers Insurance Open.
With his invitation, hopefully, the 87th Masters tournament will take place in Augusta in April.
