Nottingham Forest have signed Ghana captain and free agent Andre Ayew until the end of the season.
The 33-year-old striker was without a club following his departure from Qatari side Al Sadd after spending two years with the Middle Eastern club.
Ayew turned down Forest’s Premier League rivals Everton before the January transfer window closed.
The former Swansea and West Ham player is Forest’s 29th signing since returning to the Premier League.
“It’s a great feeling to sign for Nottingham Forest,” said Ayew.
“I know how big the club is and I know how much the club means to the City and the fanbase. It’s always been difficult every time I’ve played against Forest and at the City Ground and I love it. the stadium.
“I know what I can bring to the team, I’m ready to give it my all and make sure we can stay in the Premier League.”
Forest boss Steve Cooper knows the Ayew well, having worked with him in Wales, and his arrival will help cover injuries to Taiwo Awoniyi, Morgan Gibbs-White and Jesse Lingard.
“Steve Cooper is someone who knows me very well and knows how to work with me on and off the pitch,” Ayew added.
“We have a strong relationship, he’s a special coach and a special human being and someone I really look up to.”
Ayew, whose career began at Marseille, had two spells with Swansea either side of his two-year spell with the Hammers.
He has 113 caps in Ghana and has played in the last three World Cups.
