You will need to request an invite through the iOS or Android version of the app.
The popular Google Home app just got better. Anyone can now request an invitation to receive early access to the redesigned smart home control app. We’ll show you how and point out some new improvements.
How to request an invitation to the public preview
To get early access to the redesigned app, you’ll need to request an invite using the Google Home app to iOS Where android.
In the app, select Settings. Scroll to General and select Public Preview. So choose Invitation request.
If accepted, the app will show a notification that it will be updated to the public preview version soon. Select I understood to complete the process. If you change your mind, press Deny Acceptance.
What to expect in the revamped Google Home app
When you open the app, you will see the new Favorites tab. This will allow you to customize a personalized live view of devices, actions, and automations. You can even favorite all Nest cameras to see a live view immediately after opening the app.
Spaces group important devices like cameras or thermostats into a single view.
There’s also a new Nest Camera experience for wired and wireless cameras. The Nest Camera Controller makes it easy to find important moments and provide detailed scanning. Machine learning for Nest cameras and doorbells will tag and organize important events.
In the future, the app will support the Matter smart home standard. The protocol was officially launched in October 2022 and is gaining momentum with smart home accessory makers and tech giants like Amazon, Apple and Google.
The new app will end up Fast Pair for Matter. With this feature, an Android phone can automatically detect a device and help you set it up quickly.
Improve just-in-time for material
If you are a Google Home app user and want to try your luck with a public preview, now is a great time to see some great improvements for all users soon.
