Arsenal continue to set the standard, Liverpool and Chelsea bored fans to tears and there was chaos in the Women’s Super League.
It was an impressive performance from the Gunners, who proved why they deserved to lead the Premier League title race.
Meanwhile, Liverpool v Chelsea was a good cure for insomnia, and WSL players demanded better from the authorities after the games were canceled late.
All that and more is covered in this week’s roundup of some of the best tweets from the weekend’s football action.
1. Now that you’re Gunner, believe it
Eddie Nketiah scored a 90th-minute winner for Arsenal against Manchester United to keep them five points clear at the top of the table, one game less against second-placed Manchester City.
The Gunners are now in the driving seat as they chase a first Premier League trophy since 2004. It’s not just their fans who are loving it – Arsenal players past and present also celebrated the win in style.
Bukayo Saka, scorer of Arsenal’s second goal, becomes a real scourge for United.
Meanwhile, nothing could dampen Mikel Arteta’s morale after the final whistle.
2. Romeo challenges his family for his true love
No – this is not a blurb for a Shakespeare play. We’re talking about Romeo Beckham, who was at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday with his old man David – and father and son had split loyalties.
Romeo was of course playing in Arsenal’s youth roster and recently made his debut for Brentford’s B team.
3. On the way
Arsenal and Manchester United are both reborn this season, but Liverpool v Chelsea has suddenly become a mid-table slog.
The two sides met in a goalless draw at Anfield on Saturday. The quality on display told a story about where both clubs currently sit – ninth and tenth before the game.

For Jurgen Klopp, it was a historic game, but perhaps not one he will remember too fondly.
4. “You deserve better”
In the WSL, late weekend cancellations due to inclement weather led players to demand better treatment of footballers and fans.
Chelsea’s game against Liverpool at Kingsmeadow in Kingston upon Thames was canceled six minutes after kick-off.
The match was scheduled for 12:30 GMT after an earlier pitch inspection.
Players from both clubs and the WSL have expressed frustration with the way the situation has been handled.
Elsewhere, Arsenal’s trip to Brighton was also postponed due to a frozen pitch on Sunday after an afternoon inspection.
Defender Lotte Wubben-Moy made a nice gesture to the supporters who had made the trip.
5. Fix the bar
Fortunately, more than 5,000 fans were able to attend a WSL game on Sunday, as the 10th Reading hosted Manchester United’s title race.
A win for United took them top of the league on goal difference from Chelsea, with Arsenal three points down with a game less.
6. Cheers to that
Manchester City appear to have added another young Argentinian to their squad, following the signing of Julian Alvarez last winter.
The 20-year-old midfielder has been described as ‘the next Frenkie de Jong’. It should go down like a cool drink on a hot day.
7. Magic number
Erling Haaland keeps breaking records.
On Sunday, the 22-year-old Norwegian striker scored his fourth Premier League hat-trick, which puts him on par with Mohamed Salah. He has only played 19 league games.
8. Impossible to win for Toffee
Everton are in big trouble. In a match dubbed “El Sackico”, Jarrod Bowen scored twice to give West Ham their first Premier League win in three months.
Meanwhile, another loss means the Toffees are down to 19th place, after 10 games without a win in all competitions.
It could prove to be the final nail in the coffin of manager Frank Lampard, whose future at Goodison looks uncertain.
9. Proud to wear the shirt
And, finally, Bournemouth confirmed the signing last Thursday of 20-year-old Lorient winger Dango Outtara.
He looks fresh.
