Tymal Mills has revealed he pulled out of the Big Bash after his two-year-old daughter Delphi suffered a stroke.
The England fast bowler, 30, was at the airport ready to join Perth Scorchers when his daughter fell ill.
“She lost full use of the left side of her body and we were told they could not predict how much she would recover,” Mills wrote on Instagram.
Mills added that after “the most horrible 11 days”, Delphi has recovered enough to go home for Christmas.
The withdrawal of the left arm of the left arm of Sussex from the Scorchers team has been announced on December 14, citing a “family emergency”.
He made seven appearances in their Big Bash League title-winning campaign last season and was due to return to Australia just a month after helping England win the T20 World Cup.
“Despite all the challenges she has faced, our baby girl has amazed everyone with her recovery from [the] point where we came out with her hopping and jumping out of the hospital,” he added.
“She has a lot of rehab, meds and scans coming up, but we’re so grateful to be where we are right now.”
Mills, who has two children with wife India-Kate McLaven, missed the birth of their second daughter while on duty in England during their T20 World Cup winning campaign.
