Former Lancashire and England spinner Stephen Parry has been named Manchester Originals women’s head coach.
Parry, 36, replaces Paul Shaw, who has left to focus on his work with Lancashire.
Manchester-born Parry is Lancashire’s all-time leading wicket-taker in men’s T20 cricket and was Shaw’s assistant since his retirement in 2020.
The women of the Originals, led by England’s Kate Cross, finished sixth in the eight-team tournament last year.
Managing director Lee Morgan said: “It’s great for Stephen to have this opportunity. He’s been creative and flexible with a big cricketing brain.
“The board and management of Manchester Originals have consulted at length over this appointment, but despite Parry’s relative inexperience as a manager, they have decided to give him the opportunity to start realizing his undoubted potential.
“Other driving factors have been establishing continuity in the coaching structure, maintaining strong local ties to Manchester and what it stands for, and rewarding someone with a real drive and ambition to succeed. “
